Project Caerus, named after the Greek God of hope and opportunities, is a project created by a high school student with the hopes of helping LGBTQ+ students feel safer in Florida. We want to make a change in the state and the country to urge our political leaders to take action and protect LGBTQ+ lives! Just this year alone, there have been around 300 anti-LGBTQ bills proposed, some advancing and some passed. These bills target the LGBTQ+ community in countless ways, such as access to healthcare, education, businesses refusing gay people, earasing transgender people, etc. This is disgusting and unacceptable.
As young people, our voices and concerns aren't heard enough. It's time we put ourselves out there. We want to make an impact on Florida's views about LGBTQ+ topics. We want to see an America that doesn't discriminate against LGBTQ+ people, but a country that gives opportunities and liberty to all.
We aim to create safe spaces in schools across Florida to make LGBTQ students feel safe. If there isn't a GSA at your school, we urge you to start one.
The more people who know our mission, the more of an impact we can make. We will rally protests and petitions to make a change.
Not many people know LGBTQ+ history, which isn't taught in schools. We want to change that and educate as many people as we can so people are more aware.
There are so many ways how you can get involved. From sharing our message on social media to participating in our campaigns, you can make a difference and support our cause from home!
Be in the loop about our mission and any events that take place! Your emails won't be shared with anyone!
